General Security

Here at International Associates we take security very seriously; we constantly check site for vulnerabilities and have both physical and software systems in place to help protect your data. Our aim is to provide a safe and secure experience for all of our users.

This section gives you advice and tips on your responsibilities and also some features that we adopt to help keep your data secure.

Data Protection

We are registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office: Registration Number: ZA257920) and have implemented the requirements of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) and strive to meet our legal obligations. Additionally, we will never sell or give away your contact details to any other company or third party who are not genuinely looking to recruit candidates, and we will never bulk-sell our users data or contact details.

Passwords

In order to use the Website and to sign in when you visit, you will need to use a user name and password.

You are solely responsible for the security and proper use of your password, which should be kept confidential at all times and not disclosed to any other person. You shall notify us immediately if you believe that your password is known to someone else or if it may be used in an unauthorised way. We accept no liability for any unauthorised or improper use or disclosure of any password.

Password must be 9 characters long and contain mixed alpha-numeric. We recommend that you do not use the same password that you use for other sites. And that you change it regularly.

You can change your password by logging in and selecting “My Account” from the menu, and then changing my password. You will receive an email confirmation that the password has been changed.

Should you receive this email and you didn’t change your password, you should contact us immediately?

You can also change your password at the point of logging in by using the [ Forgot Password ] link from the log-in page.

Logging In

When logging in you will not. There is a tick to “Remember me”, this is set as default to off; you should check this on computers that are secure and you trust, you should not select this option on public computers.

General Internet Security

We also recommend that you follow the general guidance on using strong passwords, installing security software and downloading software updates, of a government web site such as www.cyberstreetwise.com to protect yourself from general internet threats.

You should note that we will never ask you for your account details, password, or any other verification process. If you receive any such emails, you should treat them as suspicious and not respond.

We will also never send you any installation or executable files.

Website Security

International Associates site and database has been written to reduce the probability of unauthorised access. Our servers are also maintained securely and independently from other sites.

SSL Certificates

One of those systems is that we use an SSL Certificate; you can see that the certificate is in place by the https:// and the closed green padlock in the toolbar of your browser; these signify that the site is secured.

A recent check of our site gave it an A rating. If you want to verify yourselves you can at www.ssllabs.com/ssltest we check this regularly, however, if you see our rating drop below A, then please let us know.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) is the standard security technology for establishing an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browsers remains private. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with customers.

To be able to create an SSL connection, a web server requires an SSL Certificate. IA has activated its SSL security certificate by completing a number of questions about the identity of our website and our company. The web server then creates two cryptographic keys – a Private Key and a Public Key.

The complexities of the SSL protocol remain invisible to you as customers. Instead, your browser simply provides you with a key indicator to let you know they are currently protected by an SSL-encrypted session – the lock icon in the lower right-hand corner, clicking on the lock icon displays the SSL Certificate and the details about it. All SSL Certificates are issued to either companies or legally accountable individuals.

Typically, SSL Certificates contain the domain name, the company name, the address, city, state, and country. It will also contain the expiration date of the Certificate and details of the Certification Authority responsible for the issuance of the Certificate. When a browser connects to a secure site, it will retrieve the site’s SSL Certificate and check that it has not expired; it has been issued by a Certification Authority the browser trusts, and that it is being used by the website for which it has been issued. If it fails on any one of these checks, the browser will display a warning to the end user letting them know that the site is not secured by SSL.
